What to say about Bangkok? It is full. Full of people, buses, taxis, tuk-tuks, buddhas and military police. Whereas the latter tries to keep in the background, all the others keep pushing for attention. Be assured that you will never run short of sunglasses, fancy hats or laser pointers during your stay. Although being here just for merely 24 hours, I would suppose that Bangkok has at least two personalities. One which stands up early and wears orange clothes until the sun has set and the other one which wakes up when the heat of the noon passed by and tries to get rid of all its clothes in all those bars until the sun will rise again.

Whatever cliches you might have ever heard about this Asian state - they are all true; or at least the Vietnamese tourist industry does a lot to maintain several stereotypes and awkward traditions (of course, you can still for. But there is a second Vietnam which is directly behind those scenes. It is full of proud people who - despite being communists beforehand - don't make use of a huge apparatus as other countries are said to do. However, it has also to be said that you might see a lot of smiling people in the streets, without paying them to do so or their anticipation of a thick wallet which is likely to be ripped off by them (as in other countries they are said to do so).

Forget all about Italian, French or Arabic coffee ambitions. The king of coffee is Vietnam. While being one of the largest rice producer of the world, Vietnam is also the biggest coffee bean producer of the world, and they are also doing quite well in roasting, brewing and consumption. It's hard to find a corner without a cafe or Starbucks style shop, which offers excellent coffee and coffee based drinks. However, while I'm trying to deal with this fancy feeling in my head due to my coffee obsession, myriads of scooters are cruising through the city. The scooters are one of the characteristics which might overwhelme you, once you have left the airport area. Like a school of fishes they drive around you as soon as you cross the street. A little bit like China, but way more relaxed, I started to like this city more and more (which might - to a large extend - but not at all be due to my coffee affinity).
